It was fantastic to welcome back ten events across the USA last Saturday, the sixth country to see events restart since the suspension of all parkruns worldwide last March.
In total, 725 events took place last weekend, with just under 70,000 participants walking, jogging, running and volunteering, including nearly 3,500 people attending a parkrun for the first time.
This coming Saturday we are looking forward to welcoming back 30 events in South Africa, plus another seven events across the USA ahead of a very busy period of restarts.
Although subject to possible changes to guidance, we expect that events across a number of countries will restart over the coming weeks as follows:
12 June Poland
19 June Denmark
20 June Scotland (junior events begin to return)
26 June England and Northern Ireland (tbc)
3 July Scotland (tbc)
In some cases we are still waiting for clarity to officially confirm an intended restart. As and when this is achieved, we will provide further information in this weekly update, as well as across the relevant communication channels for each country.
Meanwhile junior parkrun events continue to restart across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. And despite delaying the return of 5k events in England from 5 June as planned, we are now increasingly optimistic that enough events will have permission in time to restart on 26 June.
As every week passes it is clear that we are making significant progress and that life, in many places, is starting to return to normal.
Thanks so much for your continued support.

There’s no need to do the 5k at parkrun. Lois Rowland was a parkrun volunteer for more than ten years before eventually deciding to have a go at the 5k, following an ectopic pregnancy. Having now completed 50 parkruns, she tells us her story. My husband is a keen parkrunner and has been taking…
